The products themselves reflect the genre very well, they include typical girl colour such as pinks and purples that appeal to the target audience of teenage girls. It not only relates to the target audience but also to the characters in the film - being girly girls and showing an exaggerated version of teenage girls. The colours of pink and purple run throughout and the imagery of the four girls are present on both the dvd front cover and the poster, this gives the film an identity and instantly allows the audience to become familiar with the characters and gage how they are as people, which I have written about in my analysis of both. They both feature key conventions such as the actress/actors names. They are all similar in terms of form and structure.
By having these media products the film is able to be advertised and recognised by the audience and encourages people to go and and watch it in all different types of ways. By watching a trailer the audience are able to gage sense of the narrative. The poster is a way to attract a wider audience in a print form and is much easily shown on bustops, billboards etc and the DVD cover is a way of representing whats inside and almost featuring more details than the poster but less than a trailer. By using all of these together it serves a purpose of attracting the audience, building a clear narrative and ensuring that the film as a whole looks professional and appealing to the audience.
