How I decided which idea I am going to take forward

As a group we decided we were only going to take forward one idea, which meant I would have to choose between my idea's 'AWRY' and 'SUSPECT'. The audience research I conducted with the five people in my target audience meant I could make an informed decision based on what they said to me. From the overall feedback I received 3 of the 5 I asked said they preferred the 'SUSPECT' narrative. Whilst this is not a huge majority vote the things they flagged up with AWRY I agree with, they said the cast is quite small and there is little background on why the have gone into what they have. They went on to say that their could be difficulty in filming the idea - which made me think the narrative may be hard to put across as well as I would hope.

I think 'SUSPECT' is a much less complex idea but I would be able to find much more realistic settings and actors to fit the characters. I would be able to spend more time on camera shots, editing development rather than a complicated narrative that may not be put across as well in short 2 minute trailer.

My synopsis for my film which I will include in our survey:

The film is set in the city of Birmingham and is about a boy who leaves school in hope for a job earning money to provide for his little sister. He is from a deprived background and uses job searches as a way of finding jobs. He comes across a job - which offers huge sums of money. The job is being a hit man. He is desperate to take his sister out of the council house he currently lives in with his step dad, mom and stepbrother. Craig has to make a decision that would impact greatly on the life of his younger sister - with the sum of money meaning he would never have to work again. He is told he must follow the victim on his way home and murder him. However as they meet, it becomes apparent that Craig has been set up by a rival by his step brother - just as he pulls the gun police turn up and arrest him.
